Sixty-three pages of original translations of ancient Ogham texts, and extensive research, with citations included.
ABSTRACT: The ancient Irish Ogham runes are a greatly misunderstood topic throughout the neopagan community today, owing to erroneous translations, poetic ‘revivalist’ liberties, the global mixing of pagan cultures, emphasis on masculine interpretations of the so-called ‘Celtic Calendar’, and a general lack of scrupulous research amongst leading organisations of the community.
This article has been written with the view to correct these oversights, and to restore original meanings to the Ogham runes, whilst attempting to maintain a flexibility, and sympathy, toward current Celtic neopagan culture, through suggesting ways of subtly altering practices that better fit with extant ancient sources, from the seventh century onwards.
